Amicus Committee
THE NCDD AMICUS COMMITTEE
The National College for DUI Defense Amicus Committee serves one of the most important goals of the College: to protect the rights of drivers accused of impairment offenses nationwide.
With that goal in mind, the Amicus Committee has filed briefs as 'friends of the court' in many of the most important cases decided in the area of DUI and DWI Law. The committee is comprised of approximately twenty of the top DUI and DWI attorneys in the nation, who volunteer their time and effort to author briefs that have been filed in the Supreme Court of the United States as well as before the state supreme courts across the country. Often, the entire 2000 attorney membership will contribute items to the brief.
The amicus briefs of the National College of DUI defense have been cited and referenced in significant cases involving:
- the legality of roadblocks and checkpoints
- the confrontation rights of persons involving alcohol testing in crime labs
- the validity and admissibility of drug recognition testing
- and many more
